Fast forward a few years and Reason was STILL playing catch up, as it didn’t implement “block” pattern sequencing until version 5. This was back in 2004 (Reason was at version 3). What’s kept me such a long time user is that FL Studio has always seemed to be at least one step ahead of the other major DAWS, either, if not in terms of capability, then in terms of user friendliness.įor example, I remember before I started using FL Studio, when I was still deciding which DAW I wanted to settle on, Reason did NOT allow ANY audio recording and REQUIRED a HARDWARE midi controller to trigger sounds.
